At the booth, a physical and virtual presentation will showcase the creation of one of the looks KNITWEAR LAB developed for womenswear designer Anna-Mari Leppisaari. The full physical garment and its digital twin in 3D will be showcased, developed using the Virtual Knitting method by @virtualknitting at KNITWEAR LAB.

We introduced our Virtual Knitting method earlier this year during our first KNITWEAR LAB – SHOWROOM in Paris during Paris Fashion Week. Knitwear collections were developed in collaboration with a selection of inspiring menswear and womenswear designers. The focus was on transitioning from physical knitting to developing and visualizing knitwear collections virtually.

With the Virtual Knitting method, our team and the designer explore unconventional knitting techniques, innovative material solutions, experimental knitwear design, and garment construction. KNITWEAR LAB’s extensive knitwear knowledge, combined with the latest 3D and Create Plus software, opens a world of sustainable, cost-efficient, and design-driven knitwear development.

Anna-Mari Leppisaari is a Finnish knitwear and textile designer and lecturer, whose work focuses on combining textile traditions with new technologies. In her journey exploring the possibilities of Virtual Knitting at KNITWEAR LAB, Anna-Mari brings her fascination for exquisite materials, playful structures, and experimental knitting techniques. The showcased look of womenswear designer Anna-Mari Leppisaari at ITM demonstrates the integration of virtual processes into physical knitwear development. The designer’s creative vision was translated both into physically developed knitwear swatches and garments, as well as into virtual garments.

Anna-Mari Leppisaari is supported by Alfred Kordelin Foundation and Finnish Cultural Foundation @kordelininsaatio #kordelininsaatio #kulttuurirahastontuella
